Friday Evening: Spanda: Opening the Space of the Hips An All-Levels Asana Practice. An accessible practice with practical insights into overcoming tight hamstrings and hips, understanding, preventing and overcoming types of hip pain, and generally finding inner space! Standing poses will never feel the same, hips will open, and backs will bend! The session will be a well-rounded practice of all classes of poses (no inversions) appropriate to all levels of practitioners with some foundational experience in hatha yoga. 2 hours

Saturday morning: Firmness and Freedom Our Foundation in the Sacred The sacrum is literally the 'sacred' foundation for all of our actions. In this asana practice we'll be exploring the actions that provide both firmness and freedom, guarding the health of the sacrum and low back while enhancing our freedom of movement. Special emphasis on the support of the pelvic floor, and upon assessment of problems, as well as insights from Marma therapy of Ayurveda. All levels asana. 3 hours

Saturday afternoon: Exploring the 'Upayas' Pranayama, Meditation and the 'Space Between' Tantric philosophy offers an approach to pranayama, meditation and spiritual progress that can closely complement and enhance contemporary life, and draw upon our emotional life to deepen our experience. It is quite popular these days to emphasize how tantra is 'life-affirming' and 'embraces life.' But how exactly do you practice this understanding? We'll be exploring the 'Upayas' of Kashmir Shaivism and how they directly address the 'Malas' at the root of our condition, with emphasis on the specifics of how these Upayas are to be put into practice, with special emphasis on the doctrine of Spanda as a key to meditative awareness. The session will include plenty of guided practice. 3 hours.

Sunday morning: Atlas Unburdened the Upper Body An asana practice that will explore the relationship between the support of core actions in the lower body and the freedom of the shoulders in the upper body. The exploration will include focus upon muscles that play a key role in the stability of the shoulders, and how to develop them through asana. The practice will include back bending, some inversions and preparations for inversions, and will focus on 'news you can use' for your own practice or teaching! 3 hours
